Casey was born in September 1990 in Sparks, NV and he grew up there fishing the lakes and partaking in water sports since he was able hop aboard the boat. He tied his first fly at the age of 8 using pillow feathers, sewing thread, and some nail polish so that he could catch some bluegill. Casey played soccer for 16 years as a goalkeeper and he went on to receive a scholarship to play at a liberal arts University in Oklahoma where he studied art and continued to fish in his free time. He returned to Reno to coach Reed High School’s varsity soccer team and at that time he also began to pursue his tattoo career. He has now been tattooing for over 4 years and looks to open up his own shop in the future.

Casey has always had a strong passion for fishing and art, which is the reason for his success on and off the water. He looks to fulfill his biggest passion of flyfishing by pursuing the elusive 30 pound Lahontan. Over the past few years, Casey has helped dozens of fisherman dial into the fishery and catch the fish of their lifetime. Casey is notorious on the lake for being the #1 “Netman” as he has helped land many big fish for his friends and even random nearby fisherman. He is dedicated to putting extensive time on the water in attempts to “crack the code” of the mysterious Pyramid Lake and the monsters that dwell within.

CHRIS NICOLA

GUIDE

Chris Nicola was born and raised in Southern California.  He grew up skateboarding, surfing, playing sports, fishing/hunting, and traveling with his family. He knew from his travels that he wanted out of the suburbs of SoCal – and at 18 he discovered his dream in South Lake Tahoe. In Tahoe, the first few years found Chris wakeboarding in the summer and snowboarding in the winter.  Every now and then he’d spin cast a line into the surrounding waters, but when he discovered fly fishing – he found his passion. Chris loved fly fishing so much that he’d get up before sunrise to fish before work.  As soon as he was off work he’d be back out fishing. He stopped buying season passes for snowboarding.  All he wanted to do was fly fish.  With encouragement from his fishing buddies and Guide friends - Chris soon enrolled in Guide School.  After graduating from Guide School with “Tahoe Fly Fishing,” Chris ventured forth to share his love of fly fishing with everyone he could.

As a Guide, Chris enjoys helping people of all ages and from all walks of life experience some of the magic of fly fishing.  He enjoys teaching new anglers about not only the fine art of the various casting methods, but also the entomology and hydrology of the sport.  Chris has limitless patience; and has developed successful teaching methods.  Chris is a safety-conscious guide, and passionate about providing his clients with a great experience, lasting memories, and some laughs along the way.

Chris loves fishing the Truckee River, Little Truckee River, East and West Carson Rivers, East Walker River, Lower Sacramento River, Trinity River, Yuba River, The American River, Pyramid Lake, and the high Sierra Lakes around Lake Tahoe.  For the past three years Chris has been operating a drift boat which has greatly expanded his range of knowledge, skills and client service.

After two summers of guiding for “Epic Angling and Adventure” in Alaska, Chris is excited to be Guiding with Pyramid Fly Co.  He has spent many years fishing Pyramid Lake – and even caught his largest fish ever on this lake. None of this would be possible without the love and support of his wife, Ashley.

MORGAN KANE

GUIDE

Morgan was born in Sonoma County, CA.  He grew up in the country out of the hustle and bustle of the city life with the Russian River and Lake Sonoma in his backyard.  He was able to do some very convenient exploring as a youngster and became quite the outdoorsman.  He started fishing at a young age, every vacation or hike were always accompanied by a fishing pole for Morgan. He displayed a passion for the outdoors and being on the water at a young age.  When his father would get off work and go searching for Morgan after school all over town he could often be found fishing in the river, in his new shoes.  This was way before the modern conveniences of cell phones.  Needless to say, his father had to often work, after work looking for his boys.

He moved to the Sierras in 04/05 to give up the weekend warrior lifestyle so he could snowboard daily and pursue what he thought was his dream.  He soon discovered that the mountains were not only a great place for winter sports but the abundance of creeks, rivers, and lakes gave way to excellent year-round fishing.  His friends are still out snowboarding and he’s out chasing the next fish.  Today, the snowboards collect dust while the fly rods get used and abused.  He has been fishing Pyramid since the early 2000’s and has met some really great people at the lake over the years. When he is not out on the water he is found setting hooks in his sleep after a good day at the lake.

Morgan has been fishing for over 30 years and has been fly fishing for near a decade, and guiding for the last 3 years.  He has worked with all ages from his niece at age 6 to groups of women in their 60-70’s learning to fly fish for the first time.  His mother laughs when she receives pictures from him, friends receive grand baby pictures to look over and she receives beautiful fish and landscape pictures from Morgan.   Fly fishing for Morgan is more than just catching fish.  It’s about enjoying the moment and taking everything else in while being outside.  Morgan has the quiet, calm demeanor to help teach and let others understand how to work the water, and the patience to share this love we have for fly fishing.  It's about enjoying the moment, the time spent outside with others and sharing a passion that he wishes to pass on.  To share this art and teach the skill to others is where Morgan’s level of expertise shines.
